Officers from the Cho Lon traffic police unit said on Friday they had summoned the driver for questioning after the clip resurfaced online.

Police said the incident took place at 6:45 pm on February 28, 2023, on Hau Giang Street in Binh Tay Ward.

A group of young men got off the vehicle to buy noodle soup from a roadside stall before returning to the pickup truck, where they set up a table and ate while the vehicle was moving.

The driver, identified as L.K.H., 58, admitted transporting four passengers and allowing them to sit and eat on the back of the vehicle, police said.

The vehicle owner, identified as N.X.T., 34, said he had lent the pickup truck at the time to film a video for posting on TikTok, adding the vehicle was sold in May 2025 and its license plates have since been withdrawn.

Police said the driver was cited for carrying passengers in violation of regulations and had his B2 driver’s licence suspended for two months under rules in force at the time.

Officers acted after receiving public reports and verifying the footage, which was posted on Facebook last month.
