Each violator was fined VND1.5 million (US$57) for breaching environmental protection regulations.

Both were also required to remove the discarded waste and transport it to authorized collection points for proper treatment.

The first case was detected last Friday after a neighborhood leader monitored security camera footage and spotted suspicious dumping activity along Chien Luoc Street in Tan Tao Ward.

When the official arrived at the scene, a man identified as L.X.H. was allegedly caught throwing a mattress into the Chien Luoc Canal.

Officials from the ward administration’s economic, infrastructure, and urban division later arrived to document the violation and issue an administrative citation.

The same day, authorities found D.Q.T. dumping trash on vacant land at the end of Street No. 7 in the same ward.

T. was also fined and ordered to clean up.

Tan Tao Ward has recently stepped up efforts to combat illegal dumping through clean-up campaigns, installation of barriers and warning signs, and public awareness programs across neighborhoods.

The ward has also expanded its surveillance camera system to monitor public security, traffic safety, urban order, and environmental hygiene.
