Vo Duc Thanh, director of the board, said that the structure incorporates modern technology and can host performances of international scale.

The complex spans 10,000 square meters, with two basement levels and 12 stories above ground, offering a total floor space of nearly 29,500 square meters and rising 57.5 meters high.

The highlight of the venue is its 2,000-seat main auditorium, equipped with advanced sound, lighting, and stage mechanics systems to accommodate complex performance techniques.

It also has a 300-seat rehearsal hall, an exhibition and conference area, a large-capacity dining and kitchen facility, and a multifunctional rooftop space.

From a technical perspective, the construction stands out with a 52-meter long-span floor structure on the sixth, seventh, and eighth floors, along with international-standard systems for circulation, emergency exits, and fire prevention and fighting.

The facility is currently undergoing trial operations and adjustments of electromechanical systems, and is expected to be officially put into operation by the end of 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, together with the Ho Chi Minh City Art Center, has been assigned to manage and operate the facility.

The operation model combines circus, puppetry, and multimedia arts with musicals, concerts, festivals, conferences, and exhibitions, while also offering MICE services, educational and experiential activities, and community programs.

Tran The Thuan, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, said that the operation of the venue is closely linked to the city’s strategy for developing cultural works.

The Phu Tho multi-purpose circus and performing arts theater is expected to serve as a 'core' linking performing arts with cultural tourism, the night-time economy, entertainment, creativity, training, international cooperation, and cultural exchange.

It is also envisioned to enhance Ho Chi Minh City’s regional profile and become a key driver of the city’s cultural industry development.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, emphasized that the theater is not only a venue for outstanding performances but also a center for training and exchange among artists, as well as a new destination for local and international audiences.
