At the August 26 inauguration of a construction and renovation project at Vo Truong Toan High School, students and teachers were quick to praise the new campus, with some comparing it to an international school, a reference to the spacious design, modern facilities, and amenities typically associated with Vietnam's higher-end private education sector.
Located at 482 Nguyen Thi Dang Street in Tan Thoi Hiep Ward, the school spans 19,000 square meters, with a spacious, open-air playground surrounded by greenery.
45 classrooms and purpose-built facilities
Vo Truong Toan High School was established in 1999 as Hiep Thanh High School and renamed in November 2004.
The campus previously consisted of an academic building, a learning support building and a sports complex.
After years of use, some facilities had deteriorated and no longer met safety requirements.

On June 6, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh Civil and Industrial Projects Management Board broke ground on a project to rebuild and upgrade the school.
The project added 45 classrooms and a range of specialized facilities across a five-story building.
Designed with an open, modern layout, the campus includes subject-based practice rooms, a STEM lab, English classrooms, a music room, a multipurpose sports arena and a swimming pool.
Classrooms, practice rooms and other learning spaces are equipped with teaching and learning equipment designed to meet the demands of education reform and international integration.
A pool, a sports arena and more
The school has a spacious playground and ample room for physical activities.
Notably, Vo Truong Toan High School is one of the few public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City with a swimming pool.
Beyond conventional classrooms, students have dedicated spaces for hands-on science, STEM, English and music, as well as indoor sports activities.
The school upgrade and construction project had a total investment of more than VND175.3 billion (US$6.7 million).
At the inauguration on Tuesday, 10th-grade students toured the new classrooms, practice rooms and other facilities ahead of the new school year.

Ho Chi Minh City's push for 1,000 new classrooms
The new campus is part of Ho Chi Minh City's broader effort to expand and upgrade school facilities ahead of the 2026-27 academic year.
The city launched a 150-day campaign to complete 1,000 classrooms for the new school year, alongside projects to build and upgrade schools and convert surplus government offices into educational facilities.
As of August 20, 930 of 1,044 new classrooms scheduled for completion before September 5 had been completed, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.
The projects are aimed at easing pressure on school capacity and giving students more opportunities to attend schools closer to home.
