Earlier that morning, Dao Khanh Hong, a resident of Minh Phung Ward, reported to Vinh Hoi Ward police that she had forgotten her handbag in a taxi operating on electric taxi ride-hailing app Xanh SM after disembarking near an apartment complex at 1 Ton That Thuyet Street.
According to her statement, the bag contained VND20 million ($760) in cash, nine maces of 9999 gold, a pair of diamond earrings, a savings book worth VND300 million ($11,390), along with various personal documents.
The total estimated value of the belongings exceeded VND3 billion.
Upon receiving the report, police promptly reviewed surveillance footage in the area and traced the route of the taxi to identify the driver.
Police quickly identified Trong as the driver of the taxi, and contacted him regarding the incident.
