Ho Chi Minh City to restrict traffic on key streets for 50th anniversary celebration

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Public Security on Monday announced temporary traffic restrictions on several downtown streets to facilitate celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh on Thursday.

A number of roads in the heart of the city will be restricted from 6:00 am to 8:00 am and from 10 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday.

The restrictions apply to vehicles with nine or more seats, trucks with a payload of 1,500 kilograms or more, and public buses.

The affected streets include:

Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street (from Vo Thi Sau Street to Ham Nghi Street)

Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street (from Cach Mang Thang Tam Street to Nguyen Binh Khiem Street)

Pasteur Street (from Le Loi Street to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street)

Truong Dinh Street (from Ly Tu Trong Street to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street)

Nguyen Du Street (from Ton Duc Thang Street to Cach Mang Thang Tam Street)

Le Duan Boulevard (from Pham Ngoc Thach Street to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street)

Huyen Tran Cong Chua, Han Thuyen, and Alexandre de Rhodes Streets

Commuters can take alternative routes, including Ham Nghi Street → Tran Hung Dao Street → Nguyen Thi Nghia Street → Cach Mang Thang Tam Street → Dien Bien Phu Street → Hai Ba Trung Street →Ton Duc Thang Street, and other connecting roads as directed by traffic police.

Drivers are encouraged to monitor traffic updates, plan their journeys in advance, and select appropriate routes to minimize congestion and avoid delays.

Officers will be dispatched to the affected areas to regulate traffic and provide guidance.

Traffic management plans may be adjusted depending on actual road conditions to ensure safe and efficient travel throughout the duration of the celebration.
