Leaders of Laos, China, Cambodia congratulate new Vietnamese PM

The messages followed Hung’s election on Tuesday as prime minister, replacing his predecessor Pham Minh Chinh, with the approval of all 495 attending deputies at the first session of the 16th National Assembly.

Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone said Hung’s election reflects the trust and confidence of the Party, state, and people of Vietnam in his leadership, vision, and ability to guide the country toward continued development and prosperity.

He reaffirmed Laos’ readiness to work closely with the new Vietnamese prime minister to further advance bilateral ties, particularly through the effective implementation of outcomes from recent high-level meetings between the two Politburos, as well as results from the 48th session of the Vietnam–Laos Intergovernmental Committee, for the benefit of both peoples and for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond.

Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang also congratulated Prime Minister Hung, noting that Vietnam and China are friendly neighbors and important partners with extensive shared strategic interests.

He said that under the guidance of the top leaders of both Parties and countries, their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has continued to deepen in a more substantive and effective manner, delivering tangible benefits to both peoples.

He expressed readiness to work with the Vietnamese prime minister to implement important common understandings reached by the two sides’ top leaders and to advance a mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation framework, contributing to the steady development of Vietnam-China relations characterized by good neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation.

In his congratulatory message, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed confidence that under the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Hung and the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam will continue to achieve significant socio-economic progress and further strengthen its regional and international standing.

He highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two countries, built on good neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability.

The Cambodian leader also expressed his hope to soon meet Prime Minister Hung to discuss measures to further promote bilateral cooperation and enhance coordination within ASEAN and other multilateral frameworks, for the mutual benefit of both peoples.
