The unexpected appearance of the vivid green hydrangeas in photos on social media has quickly turned the flower display into a popular check-in spot among young Hanoians.
The “flower path” is actually a flower bed running along Hoan Kiem Lake, opposite the Vietnam Post building.
It stretches about 20 meters and is planted with hydrangeas in a distinctive matcha-green shade.

The unusual color has immediately caught the eye of young women looking for photogenic spots.
Some have even stopped for a quick photo before having time to dress up.
Thu Hang, from Gia Lam Ward in Hanoi, happened to come across the flowers while taking commemorative photos for National Day and was struck by the transformed look of the lake.
“I often come to Hoan Kiem Lake to take photos, but this is the first time I have seen so many green hydrangeas here,” Hang said.
“Compared with hydrangeas in other colors, these flowers have a refreshing feel. Photos taken in the autumn sunshine should look bright and vibrant.
I think the green shade, which reminds me of com (a Vietnamese delicacy made from young green rice), is a perfect match for Hanoi’s autumn.”

The colorful flower bed has attracted both locals and visitors, with many young people stopping to take photos while strolling around the lake.
“Public flower beds are usually planted with chrysanthemums, dahlias or hydrangeas in various colors,” Thai Loc said.
“With such an unusual green shade, this flower bed is sure to become a popular photo spot in Hanoi during the September 2 (National Day) holiday.”
Other flowers have also been planted among the hydrangeas, creating the feel of a lush green garden in the heart of the city.
