Cho Ray Hospital announced on Sunday that the patient's condition had continued to improve following specialized treatment.

Dr. Tran Thanh Linh, head of the hospital's Department of Emergency and Critical Care, said the patient is now fully conscious, breathing without oxygen support, and has stable blood pressure.

The temporary pacemaker has been removed, and the patient is able to eat independently and carry out light daily activities in bed.

The patient was transferred to relevant departments on Monday following a hospital-wide consultation for continued cardiac monitoring, nutritional support, and physical rehabilitation.

The patient was airlifted from Phu Quoc to Cho Ray Hospital on July 13 despite unfavorable weather conditions.

The medical transport team used an advanced life support system equipped with a ventilator and monitoring devices, while also preparing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) as a backup measure during the transfer.

The patient was the most seriously injured victim of the boat capsizing that occurred on the afternoon of July 11 near May Rut Ngoai Islet in Phu Quoc.

At the time of the accident, the Ocean Pearl Island speedboat was carrying 32 foreign tourists, three crew members, and one tour guide.

The vessel capsized about 400 meters from An Thoi International Port while returning to shore.

The accident claimed 15 lives, all Indians, while 21 people were rescued.

Among the survivors, two were critically injured, with the most seriously wounded patient transferred to Cho Ray Hospital for treatment.

Police in An Giang Province later launched a criminal investigation and detained the operator of the speedboat.
