Vietnamese enjoyed the 2026 Tet holiday from February 14 to February 22.
The coastal rescue force stationed on Bai Sau Beach said on Sunday that over 100 victims were brought safely back to shore, with no fatalities reported, during the period.
The Vung Tau beaches were packed with families and tourists seeking springtime leisure during this year’s holiday.
However, strong waves and the formation of localized rip currents and whirlpools posed significant risks, particularly for those venturing too far from shore or straying beyond designated safe zones.
Dozens of swimmers were swept away by currents or inadvertently caught in swirling waters.
Le Tan Nghia, deputy director of Tam Hoang Thien Company, which is responsible for rescue operations on Bai Sau Beach, said the firm had mobilized its full workforce throughout the holiday.
Lifeguards were deployed across swimming zones, maintaining constant vigilance amid surging crowds.
The company also ensured that rescue equipment, including life buoys, rescue boards and jet skis, was fully prepared for rapid emergency response.
Thanks to these measures, more than 100 swimmers in distress were detected and assisted in time.
Though several rescued individuals required hospital first aid treatment, all are now reported to be in stable condition.
The successful rescue of 100 percent of those in distress helped ensure that residents and tourists could confidently enjoy beach activities and spring outings in Vung Tau.
