The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Justice held a ceremony to present the presidential citizenship decisions to goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang, born in Slovakia in 1992, and midfielder Khoa Ngo, born in Australia in 2006.
Le Giang has played in Vietnam since 2023, first for Ho Chi Minh City FC and currently for Ho Chi Minh City Police Club, where the 1.88-meter goalkeeper has become a key player.
Khoa Ngo joined Ho Chi Minh City Police Club in January on loan from Australian club Perth Glory and has scored four goals in the 2025-26 V.League 1 and National Cup competitions.
Le Giang was unavailable for Vietnam’s Asian Cup 2027 qualifier against Malaysia in March because his federation switch had not been completed, while Khoa Ngo is still undergoing the process and could become eligible for the national team in the future.
Speaking at the ceremony, Le Giang said he had long hoped to contribute to Vietnamese football and was happy to officially become a Vietnamese citizen after three years.
The event was attended by officials from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Justice, representatives of Ho Chi Minh City Police Club, and Vietnam international striker Nguyen Tien Linh.
