Passenger bus driver fined $224 for singing karaoke while driving in Vietnam

According to the footage, he was operating a passenger bus without wearing a seatbelt while holding a microphone and singing a song.

At several moments, he took both hands off the steering wheel.

The video sparked public outrage, with many social media users criticizing the driver's behavior as reckless and potentially dangerous to both passengers and other road users.

Following an investigation, police identified the driver as V.V.T., 29, a resident of Quynh Tam Commune in Nghe An.

During questioning, T. admitted that at around 1:45 pm on Wednesday, after the vehicle was washed in the Cau Giat area of Quynh Luu Commune, he drove the passenger bus along National Highway 48B on his way home to Quynh Tam.

At the time, another man from the same commune was traveling with him.

At around 2:00 pm, when the vehicle was approaching an expressway intersection in Quynh Son, T. asked his companion to turn on the vehicle’s karaoke system and select a song so he could test the speakers.

While the passenger bus was still in motion, T. sang into the microphone.

Meanwhile, his companion recorded the performance on a mobile phone and later uploaded the video to social media.

Based on the findings, traffic police booked T. and fined him for using and holding an electronic device while operating a moving vehicle and for failing to wear a seatbelt while driving.

Besides, the driver had four points deducted from his 12-point driving license.
