Images circulating on social media on Saturday showed a group of women sitting in the middle of the road at a dangerous hairpin bend on Hai Van Pass.

The bend is located below the pass’s summit. The stretch carries heavy traffic and features a steep gradient, a sharp curve and limited visibility.

The images drew criticism online, with many people condemning the group’s dangerous behavior, particularly at a bend on a steep uphill and downhill section.

A representative of the Da Nang Traffic Police said the unit had received information about the incident and dispatched officers to coordinate with relevant forces to investigate and determine how to handle the case.

Traffic police said the location where the group sat was on the bend below the summit of Hai Van Pass, which often attracts residents and tourists who stop their vehicles to take photos and check in.

Authorities have regularly patrolled the area and issued safety warnings and reminders.
