Nineteen Vietnamese police officers specializing in firefighting and rescue operations are set to compete in the 2025 World Police and Fire Games in Birmingham, the United States, the Ministry of Public Security has announced.

The ministry’s Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department released its training report on Thursday, outlining the preparations made by the national team ahead of the Games, which will take place from June 27 to July 6.

This year’s edition of the event is expected to draw more than 8,500 participants from over 70 countries, competing in more than 60 disciplines.

Vietnam’s team consists of 19 officers trained to compete in four categories: firefighter challenges, ultimate firefighters, fire-fighting drills, and a stair race which involves climbing a 40-story building in full protective gear.

Beyond medals or rankings, the team emphasizes the importance of sportsmanship, professionalism, and the image of Vietnam’s police force on the international stage.

The Games, held every two years, are one of the world’s largest sporting events for law enforcement and firefighting professionals.
