The chairman of the municipal People’s Committee has signed a decision to fine Chic-Land Joint Stock Company, the owner of Chicland Danang Beach Hotel, located at 210 Vo Nguyen Giap Street in An Hai Ward.
The legal representative of the company is Do Ngoc Thanh, who serves as the general director.
Following an inspection led by the Economic Police Division under the municipal Department of Public Security, in coordination with officials from the environmental protection division under the municipal Department of Agriculture and Environment and local police officers, several environmental and food safety violations were identified at the hotel.
These included failure to fully comply with an approved environmental impact assessment report, unauthorized installation of discharge systems releasing untreated waste into the environment, improper operation of waste treatment facilities, and disposal of waste on sidewalks and roadways.
Other offenses were failure to contract a licensed environmental unit before transferring hazardous waste, inadequate or improperly designated hazardous waste storage areas, and failure to submit accurate or complete environmental protection reports to relevant authorities.
The hotel was also found failing to comply with food safety regulations on sample storage and implement the legally required three-step food inspection process.
As such, the company was fined VND564 million (US$21,400).
In addition, the firm was required to dismantle the unauthorized structures used for discharging untreated waste, restore the site to its original condition, and implement corrective measures to resolve environmental pollution.
In a separate case, Thanh Thuy Co., Ltd, the operator of ELC Hotel at 424 Vo Nguyen Giap Street, has been fined VND264 million ($10,000) for multiple infractions.
The company is headquartered in Lam Dong Province, with Nguyen Trong Thanh listed as its legal representative and director.
After an inspection, ELC Hotel was discovered committing several violations, including operating without required environmental registration, dumping waste on public sidewalks and roadways, and improper collection and storage of hazardous waste.
Other violations were no contracts with licensed environmental units for hazardous waste treatment, lack of technically compliant hazardous waste storage areas, inaccurate or missing environmental protection reports, poor kitchen practices, and non-compliance with food safety regulations such as the three-step inspection procedure and food sample storage.
The company was required to rectify all violations and implement remedial measures as per current environmental and food safety regulations.
