At around 9:40 pm on Wednesday, the province’s 114 command center received a report from local residents about the missing hikers.
According to the report, the foreigners lost their way and were physically drained after hiking from around 2:30 pm on the same day.
The fire prevention, fighting and rescue division under the provincial Department of Public Security quickly dispatched a specialized rescue vehicle and six officers to the site, coordinating with local police officers to initiate a rescue operation.
Due to the challenging terrain, it took rescuers several hours to locate the tourists.
At 1:15 am on Thursday, the pair were found and safely brought down the mountain.
Police have issued a warning, urging people not to hike Co Tien Mountain without a guide or proper equipment.
Hikers are advised to check weather forecasts, ensure physical readiness, and acquire basic knowledge of the terrain before engaging in such adventurous activities.
Co Tien Mountain, well known for its pristine beauty and fresh air, is a popular destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
However, the area features steep slopes and difficult terrain, requiring careful preparation and caution.
In recent years, the mountain has attracted increasing numbers of visitors seeking to conquer its heights, but this rise in popularity has also led to a growing number of safety incidents involving inexperienced or unprepared climbers.
