The facility, invested in by FPT Analysis Technologies JSC, covers 1,600 square meters at Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park, and is equipped with six production lines.
The plant is designed to develop high-volume chip testing capabilities for domestic and international partners, contributing to Vietnam's national strategy to establish an integrated semiconductor value chain.
In terms of technical standards, the entire testing area is housed in a Class 10,000 cleanroom (ISO Class 7), with strict electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls and compliance with ISO 14644 cleanroom standards.
The facility also operates under internationally recognized management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Its operational infrastructure is built around automated test equipment (ATE) systems working in coordination with handling equipment.
While ATE testers conduct detailed assessments of chip functionality and operating performance, handlers automatically pick up, position and sort chips according to whether they meet required specifications.
To ensure product durability before shipment, engineers subject chips to rigorous testing under extreme conditions, including repeated thermal shock, high-temperature operation, and combined temperature and humidity exposure.
Notably, FPT is also researching and developing an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered platform to automate the configuration and test program setup processes for different chip product lines.
The plant's operational workforce comprises experienced engineers and specialists, including personnel who previously spent several years working at Intel's Vietnam factory.
During its initial operational phase, the facility is expected to fulfill its first commercial order for a semiconductor partner from South Korea.
Alongside manufacturing activities, FPT plans to use the facility as a practical training ground for developing highly skilled semiconductor professionals.
An FPT representative said the group would continue expanding into advanced chip packaging technologies in the next phase, building on more than a decade of accumulated experience in the semiconductor industry.
It aims to gradually establish a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem while increasing Vietnam's value-added contribution to the global technology landscape.
