The incident occurred shortly after midnight at a coffee shop on Le Hong Phong Street in Hai Chau Ward, according to a representative of the establishment, who said the man entered the premises and damaged furniture, glass panels, and other property.
The coffee shop said it alerted police, who arrived within minutes and took the man into custody for questioning.
Videos recorded by witnesses and shared on social media showed a shirtless man damaging items inside the coffee shop as customers fled the area.
Footage also showed authorities later restraining the individual.

Initial verification by Hai Chau Ward police identified the man as an Australian citizen, a source familiar with the matter told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
The source said the man appeared to be exhibiting signs of mental instability at the time of the incident.
The owner of the coffee shop estimated damage to the business at about VND500 million (US$19,000), while property belonging to five customers, including laptops and mobile phones, sustained an estimated VND70 million ($2,660) in losses.
Police have asked affected parties to provide statements and have secured the scene as part of their investigation, the source said.
The investigation is ongoing.
