-- A solemn ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution (August 18) and National Day (September 2) was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Friday, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Relations, on Saturday morning organized a Friendship Walk to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of Vietnam’s diplomacy and the 50th anniversary of the municipal department, with the participation of over 1,800 people, including diplomats, city officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international business associations, and local residents.

-- Hanoi Metro announced on Saturday evening that to meet the surging travel demand on the day of the full-scale rehearsal for a military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, it would increase the operating frequency of the two metro lines on Sunday.

-- At 4:00 am on Sunday, the eye of storm Kajiki, the fifth storm to hit the East Vietnam Sea this year was spotted over the northern part of Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) Special Zone, some 660 kilometers east-southeast of Nghe An Province and about 640 kilometers east of Ha Tinh Province, with maximum sustained winds at level 12 (118-133 kph) and gusts at level 15, according to the national weather center.

-- Coast guards, soldiers, and young people in Phu Quoc Special Zone off the coast of southern An Giang Province on Saturday launched a campaign to collect some one metric ton of household waste in the An Thoi seaport area.

-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday ordered urgent actions to unify technologies, infrastructure, and platforms for handling commune-level administrative procedures, ensuring a single, modern, and interoperable system with shared standards and measurements.

-- The economic police division of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Public Security announced on Saturday that it had initiated a criminal case and prosecuted 17 individuals involved in the sale of nitrous oxide balloons, or ‘laughing gas,’ at two business locations on Bui Vien Street in Ben Thanh Ward.

-- Kido Group will enter the AI sector by forming a joint venture with Yuguang Tongchen, a company based in China, to apply AI to film production and advertising in Vietnam, as well as to expand into online sales, Tran Le Nguyen, CEO of the company, announced at the 2025 Vietnam Private Sector Forum, held in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.
