Politics

-- During his meeting with visiting European Council President António Costa on Thursday, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly valued the latter’s visit as it helps open a positive new chapter in the promising cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the EU.

-- To date, Vietnam has had 15 comprehensive strategic partners spanning Asia, Europe, and the Americas, with the most recent being the EU.

-- Vietnam will actively cooperate with members of the Board of Peace in implementing the peace plan, thereby ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip and promoting sustainable peace in the Middle East on the basis of a two-state solution in line with international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN resolutions, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang told a regular press briefing on Thursday.

-- EC President Costa on Thursday afternoon visited Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), a symbol of Vietnam’s tradition of learning and the country’s first university, as part of his two-day official visit to Vietnam.

-- Vietnam is closely coordinating with the World Health Organization (WHO), strengthening monitoring at points of entry, and closely tracking developments of the Nipah virus outbreak, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has issued a decision to establish the Planning and Architecture Center under the municipal Department of Planning and Architecture, based on the merger of several units.

-- AQUA Electrical Appliances Vietnam Company has extended the operation of its factories in Vietnam until 2045, with a total investment of VND1.54 trillion (US$75 million).
