-- Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority said it received a report from the Northern Airports Authority about unidentified drones spotted near Tho Xuan Airport in Thanh Hoa Province on Friday and Saturday, disrupting civil aviation and threatening flight safety. The drones forced three flights from Ho Chi Minh City to divert to Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport on Saturday night, leading to the cancellation of three outbound flights from Tho Xuan.
-- A car crashed through a barrier, plowed across a motorbike lane and onto the sidewalk on Kinh Duong Vuong Street in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday evening, killing a woman and her daughter, with local officials saying the driver fled the scene and has not yet been identified.
-- A man in Khanh Hoa Province was killed on Sunday after being struck by a train while lying on the tracks, local authorities said.
Economy
-- Vietnam’s 27 listed commercial banks posted a combined operating income of more than VND165 trillion (US$6.3 billion) and an after-tax profit of over VND66 trillion ($2.5 billion) in the first quarter of 2025, up 9.3 percent and 15.3 percent respectively from a year earlier, Vietnam Report said.
