-- Vietnam will experience a widespread heatwave from Monday to Saturday, with temperatures expected to reach up to 38 degrees Celsius, according to the national weather agency.

-- The People’s Committee of Phu Tho Province in northern Vietnam on Sunday ordered police to investigate a bus crash in Tam Dao in which a bus carrying bank employees plunged into a ravine, injuring eight people.

-- Health authorities in Vietnam’s Dak Lak Province said on Sunday that 32 people were hospitalized with suspected food poisoning after eating ‘banh mi’ (Vietnamese sandwich) from a shop in Ea Drang Commune, with all patients in stable condition and under observation.

-- A tree was uprooted and fell onto a motorcyclist on To Hieu Street in Ha Dong Ward, Hanoi on Sunday afternoon, witnesses said, adding that heavy rain and strong winds hit the area at the time.

-- Hanoi police on Sunday charged eight suspects, including several quarantine officials, in connection with a ring that slaughtered and sold nearly 300 tonnes of diseased pork to markets and school kitchens.

-- A young man died after climbing Bai Tho Mountain in Hong Gai Ward, Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam despite a ban and safety warnings in place since 2017, police said on Sunday.

-- At a cooperation deal signing ceremony on Sunday between Vietnam’s Gia Lai Province and four southern Lao provinces, Vietnamese firms said they would continue investing in Laos, with PISICO Binh Dinh Corporation JSC committing an additional VND1.5 trillion (US$57 million) to Sekong Province and Hoang Anh Gia Lai JSC maintaining its multi-crop forestry project in Attapeu Province.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City said on Sunday they will adjust traffic on Ben Nghe Street in Tan Thuan Ward for 10 days to carry out maintenance and repairs.

-- Nearly 80,000 visitors attended the 2026 Saigontourist Group Culinary Culture Festival over four days at Van Thanh Tourist Area in Ho Chi Minh City, organizers said as the event closed on Sunday, up about 10,000 from 2025.

-- Phan Phuong Oanh of Hanoi was crowned Miss World Vietnam 2025 at the final held in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, with Le Phuong Khanh Nhu of Khanh Hoa Province named the first runner-up and Truong Tam Nhu of Hue City the second runner-up.
