-- Vietnam’s national weather agency forecasts that the current heatwave will begin to ease in the south from Saturday, while the northern and central regions will continue to endure high temperatures until Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- Health officials in Ho Chi Minh City warned that dengue fever cases are expected to rise sharply from mid-June, prompting authorities to roll out prevention measures ahead of the annual peak season.

-- Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City plan to break ground on the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh railway project before July 2, with the nearly-48-kilometer line expected to include about 19 stations linking the city center with the under-construction Long Thanh International Airport in neighboring Dong Nai City.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has proposed allowing short-term tourist apartment rentals only with the consent of residents and owners’ committees, amid growing concerns over conflicts and regulatory gaps linked to the rapidly expanding accommodation model.

Travel

-- The Airports Corporation of Vietnam met with Can Tho City leaders on Thursday to discuss expanding air connectivity, proposing five new international routes connecting the Mekong Delta city with South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and China to boost tourism and economic growth.

-- Khanh Hoa Province, home to the famed beach town of Nha Trang, will host the 2026 Sea Festival in July with nearly 30 cultural, sports, tourism, and entertainment activities, aiming to attract up to 800,000 visitors during the summer season, authorities said on Thursday.
