Storm Bualoi

-- Storm Bualoi, the 10th storm to hit the East Vietnam Sea this year, was moving unusually fast at 35-40 kph early on Saturday morning and may make landfall in central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri on Sunday evening, according to the national weather agency.

-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued an urgent directive ordering ministries and coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Khanh Hoa to prepare for storm Bualoi, which is expected to strengthen to level 12-13 (118-149 kph), gusting to level 16 (184-201 kph) in the coming days as it heads toward the north-central and northern regions of Vietnam.

-- The country has placed more than 417,000 military personnel and 9,000 vehicles on standby in response to storm Bualoi.

-- In Hue City alone, authorities have drawn up plans to evacuate more than 32,000 residents ahead of the storm’s arrival.

Economy

-- The administration of Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam and the county’s leading private conglomerate Vingroup on Friday launched two major projects, including the Tan Trao Industrial Park’s phase one valued at over VND4 trillion ($151 million) and the VND178-trilllion ($6.7 billion) Hai Phong LNG power plant, marking key investments in the city’s new southern coastal economic zone.

-- The city will host the 2026 Business Partner Cities Roundtable, Bui Minh Thanh, vice-chairman of the municipal administration, announced during a working visit to Osaka, Japan, on Thursday.

-- Police in Phu Tho Province, northern Vietnam confirmed early on Saturday morning that they arrested a 38-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his wife and two other men on Friday night following a reported love affair dispute.

-- Dak Lak Province has recorded 73 traffic accidents involving students so far this year, leaving 39 dead and 43 injured, a senior police officer said on Friday.
