On Saturday, Can Tho’s Department of Agriculture and Environment said the city is preparing 25,000 potted rice plants for display at the second Vietnam International Rice Industry Festival.
The plants will be used to create the 'Rice Road,' an exhibition showcasing the development of rice farming in Vietnam.
The first batch of 19,000 potted rice plants has already been planted to ensure the required number is ready on schedule and grown using appropriate cultivation techniques.
The department has also completed 300 large potted rice plants of the CTR and CT varieties for display at the city’s exhibition area, showcasing achievements in agriculture and environmental protection.
The rice industry festival, themed 'Vietnam Green Rice - Reaching the World,' will take place from November 23 to 26, 2026.
The festival will feature three competitions related to rice: an arts competition using rice and rice-based materials, the 'Flavor of Vietnam’s Rice' competition, and a rice-sector innovation competition.
It will also feature the exhibition 'The rice road from past to future,' with models illustrating the development of rice farming in Vietnam, from early agriculture and smallholder farming to industrialized agriculture and the modern Agriculture 4.0 era.
Alongside the competitions, exhibitions and seminars, the second Vietnam International Rice Industry Festival will feature exhibition areas for Vietnamese rice businesses, modern agricultural technology, machinery and supplies, as well as specialty, OCOP, organic and high-quality rice and processed rice products.
