Chinese firm to supply 25 wind turbines for 200MW wind farm in Vietnam: report

The complex, developed by Vietnam’s REE Energy with a combined capacity of 200 MW, will use Envision’s EN-226/8.X YE turbines, which are designed to operate in low- to medium-wind conditions of nearshore waters in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia.

The first batch of equipment is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of next year.

Work on the project began in May this year, with a price tag of approximately VND9.139 trillion (US$348 million).

REE Energy chairwoman Nguyen Thi Mai Thanh said the project is slated for completion in 2027 and is expected to contribute about VND200 billion ($7.6 million) annually to Can Tho’s budget from 2028.

This marks Envision’s largest wind project in Vietnam and its biggest nearshore wind development outside China.

It is also the second collaboration between REE and Envision, following the 128-MW Vinh Long wind project in southern Vietnam.

According to the Global Wind Energy Council, 2025 was the first year in which the world's top five wind turbine suppliers by installed capacity were all Chinese companies, including Goldwind, Envision, Windey, Mingyang, and SANY.

However, most of their installed capacity came from China’s domestic market.

Outside mainland China, Denmark’s Vestas remained the leader with 12.9 GW of installed capacity in 2025, while Envision ranked fifth with 4.2 GW.
