Ha Tuan Minh, director of Vietnam Winner International Travel Company, said on Sunday that a wave of Chinese travelers had returned to the island since early 2025, driven by strategic promotional efforts.
“Multiple Chinese famtrip delegations have visited Phu Quoc to explore its tourism potential,” Minh said.
Chinese tour operators have played a pivotal role by producing and distributing short promotional videos showcasing Phu Quoc’s natural beauty across social media platforms, significantly boosting the island’s visibility among Chinese tourists.
“The promotion activities have had a positive impact, improving the island’s image in the eyes of Chinese visitors,” Minh noted.
“Many Chinese tourists are now spending generously on dining, entertainment, and especially nature-based experiences such as exploring the sea and the forests.”
“Phu Quoc’s stunning scenery is trending widely on Chinese social media. The visa-free policy and competitive pricing make it an attractive destination,” said Huang Xin Yi from China.
“I believe Phu Quoc will remain a favorite for Chinese travelers in the coming years."
Data from the Kien Giang Department of Tourism indicated that the province served an estimated 7.1 million visitors, nearly 900,000 of whom were international tourists, in the first half of 2025.
Phu Quoc alone drew over 4.4 million visitors, including more than 800,000 international arrivals, mainly from mainland China, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Chinese travel firms are calling for more tour options with specialized guides fluent in Chinese to enhance the travel experience for their clientele.
Phu Quoc City chairman Tran Minh Khoa confirmed that nearly 140,000 Chinese tourists visited the island in the first half of this year, double the figure from the same period last year.
“We are intensifying efforts to promote Phu Quoc’s tourism brand and encouraging local tour operators to develop high-quality, nature-integrated tourism products,” Khoa said.
