Da Nang launches flight-tracking feature on smart city app

The Da Nang Department of Science and Technology said on Friday that it had teamed up with Da Nang International Airport to launch a new “Flight Information” feature on the Danang Smart City app.

The feature uses real-time data shared from the airport’s Airport Operational Database, allowing passengers to access flight information without having to check the electronic boards at the airport.

Users can view scheduled and updated departure and arrival times, terminals, check-in counters, departure gates and flight status in real time.

The app can also send notifications to users’ phones when there are changes to their flights, such as schedule adjustments, changes to departure or arrival times, or departure-gate changes.

This can be particularly useful when a departure gate is changed shortly before a flight.

A representative of the Da Nang Intelligent Operation Center, which operates the Danang Smart City app, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that integrating real-time flight data into the smart city platform would help residents and visitors better plan their journeys to and from Da Nang International Airport.

The feature also includes an airport map that allows users to locate check-in counters, security screening areas, departure gates and other facilities inside the airport.

Users can also look up transportation options to and from the airport, including buses, taxis and ride-hailing services, and choose a suitable route.

How to track flights on Danang Smart City app

To use the feature, users open the Danang Smart City app and search for “Flight Information” in the search bar or select it from the home screen. They can then enter a flight number to retrieve information.

Users can also browse flights by list, tap the star icon to follow a flight or select a flight to view its details.

In 2025, the Danang Smart City app recorded 1.8 million downloads and offered more than 90 services across various areas.

Its features include the Danang AI chatbot for assistance with administrative procedures and real-time flood and rain alerts, as well as digital services for checking land prices, submitting feedback, accessing healthcare, education and cultural and tourism services, checking bus information and paying electricity and water bills and environmental fees.
