On Thursday evening, the tourist posted in an expat community group asking for help after his daughter lost a diamond ring at Cua Dai Beach in Hoi An Dong Ward.
Although it was outside working hours, Phan Thanh Trinh, an employee of the board, responded and offered to help find the ring free of charge.
On Friday morning, Trinh and a colleague from the board’s beach security team followed the tourist’s directions to search the area.

Due to the unclear location where the ring was lost, they searched both onshore and near the water using a metal detector and by digging in the sand.
After several hours, they found the diamond ring worth over VND50 million (US$1,910) underwater near the shoreline.

This was not Trinh’s first successful recovery effort.
On July 26, he also helped two female tourists locate their iPhones, which were buried under the sand near My Khe Beach.
The tourists had hidden an iPhone 14 Pro Max and an iPhone 15 in a hat and buried them before swimming, but rising tides erased the spot.
Trinh and other staff members of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches management board used specialized equipment to locate and return the phones.
