In Hue, the quake occurred at 9:25 pm in A Luoi 4 Commune at a depth of about 8.3 kilometers.
The center’s director Nguyen Xuan Anh said the quake posed no disaster risk, and monitoring is ongoing.
In Son La, the magnitude-3.6 earthquake was recorded in Binh Thuan Commune earlier in the day, with a focal depth of around 10 kilometers.

Anh explained that earthquakes of magnitude 4-5 are considered light in Vietnam.
Such tremors may cause indoor objects to shake or produce noise, and are usually felt by people indoors, while those outside experience only mild vibrations.
These minor quakes typically result in little to no damage, though small household items may fall.
Globally, around 10,000 to 15,000 earthquakes of similar strength occur every year.
