FPT breaks ground on $50mn digital technology building in Hanoi

The project is part of the FPT Digital Technology Park Urban Area project in Phu Dien and Tay Tuu Wards.

The 17,217-square-meter building will feature seven above-ground floors, one basement, and a rooftop level, with a total floor area of approximately 69,830 square meters.

Construction is expected to take about 12 months.

Once completed, the building will provide workspace for approximately 6,000 digital technology specialists and supporting staff.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Truong Viet Dung, vice-chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, described the event as an important milestone in cooperation between government and pioneering enterprises.

He emphasized the project’s role in building a competitive technology hub that attracts talent, fosters innovation, and generates new economic value.

The vice-chairman asked FPT to ensure the project’s progress, quality and long-term vision.

He also urged the company to attract technology businesses, research institutes, universities and international partners to the site.

The building must ultimately be filled with substantive activities in research, product development and market engagement, he said.

Hanoi pledged to continue supporting the project and creating favorable conditions for its effective implementation.

The municipal leader expressed hope that the Tay Tuu-Phu Dien area would gradually develop into a tech-oriented urban area, strengthening the Vietnamese capital’s competitiveness and appeal to highly-skilled workers.

Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT Corporation, highlighted the company’s ambition to make Tay Tuu-Phu Dien a digital urban hub, connecting engineers, researchers, students, and businesses.

FPT aims to gradually transform the site into a ‘living exhibition’ of strategic technologies.

Artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum technology, unmanned aerial vehicles, and other emerging technologies are expected to be featured not only through demonstrations but also through research, development, testing and real-world applications within the technology ecosystem.

To support this vision, FPT plans to collaborate with global tech giants such as NVIDIA, Samsung, Microsoft, universities, research institutes, technology businesses, startups and Vietnamese experts at home and abroad.

The company aims to strengthen cooperation among government, scientists, and businesses, while promoting research, training, and the commercialization of tech products.

The FPT Digital Technology Park Urban Area will cover approximately 194 hectares, including around 58.5 hectares designated for the concentrated digital technology park.

When the entire development becomes operational, it is expected to accommodate around 75,000 people, including digital technology specialists and supporting workers.

The concentrated digital technology zone is designed to support research, training, development, manufacturing, business operations, and digital technology services. It will also provide space to showcase products and connect different participants across the technology ecosystem.
