At a meeting with provincial leaders on Monday, FPT outlined plans for a multi-functional campus including lecture halls, dormitories, sports facilities, and service centers.
The complex would accommodate more than 6,000 students, offering training from elementary education to vocational and university programs.
FPT said it expects the project to help improve the quality of local human resources and create opportunities for students in Dien Bien to access a modern learning environment.
Nguyen Van Khoa, chief executive officer of FPT Corporation, said FPT aims to “do what other enterprises have not done,” particularly in education and high-quality workforce development.
Dien Bien, he noted, could become a hub for training local talent while attracting students from other provinces, creating a new labor force for the region.
FPT plans to prioritize training in four emerging technology fields, including semiconductors, cybersecurity, unmanned aerial vehicles, and other advanced technologies.
The group also committed to helping Dien Bien establish an innovation center, attract scientists, and form research teams to develop technology products.
These efforts are intended to contribute to Vietnam’s national strategic technology portfolio and global supply chains, with Japan and South Korea identified as key partner markets.
In the coming period, FPT plans to invite a delegation of around 20 Japanese enterprises to Dien Bien to explore investment opportunities.
Le Van Luong, deputy secretary of the provincial Party Committee and chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the province is restructuring its economy with science, technology, and digital transformation as key drivers.
Luong called for a comprehensive, long-term cooperation plan and directed local departments to coordinate closely with FPT in implementation.
