The three-day event was originally set to take place at Thong Nhat Park from Friday to Sunday, according to the Hanoi Information and Tourism Promotion Center, under the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
However, the center said on Thursday that the event will be rescheduled for a more suitable time, with no new date set yet. The specific reasons for this latest delay were not disclosed.
This marks the second time the festival has been pushed back. It was initially slated for September 25 to 27 before being moved to mid-October to allow additional preparation time for program quality and content.
The 2026 festival, themed 'Hanoi Autumn - Journey of Emotions,' was planned around nine experiential spaces to promote Hanoi as a tourist destination, stimulate tourism demand, boost the sector’s growth, attract more visitors, encourage longer stays and increase visitor spending.
The event was expected to cover approximately 5,000 square meters, featuring booths, festival and experiential spaces, decorative installations and support areas, alongside related activities in wards and communes across the city.
The program was also set to include an experiential tour at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, the Hanoi Autumn Run, and a waste collection campaign bringing together running enthusiasts to help protect the environment.
Traditional and contemporary arts performances, mini-shows, street performances, folk games, cultural workshops, photo opportunities and creative activities were also planned throughout the festival.
First held in 2023, the Hanoi Autumn Festival aims to make the capital’s autumn a distinctive tourism attraction by bringing together cultural performances, cuisine, traditional crafts and interactive experiences.
Each edition has offered a different perspective on Hanoi.
The inaugural 2023 festival, themed 'Hanoi Autumn - Come to Love,' celebrated the capital’s seasonal charm, while the 2024 edition, 'Hanoi Autumn - Historic Autumn,' highlighted Hanoi’s historical heritage as the city marked the 70th anniversary of its Liberation Day.
It attracted more than 50,000 visits and featured products from 11 of Hanoi’s well-known craft villages, alongside autumn tour packages promoted by tourism businesses.
The third edition, held in 2025, adopted the theme 'Hanoi Autumn - Autumn of Memories,' combining historical heritage with contemporary cultural experiences through traditional crafts, local cuisine, folk performances and virtual-reality activities.
