The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said northern Vietnam will continue facing hot weather on Friday and Saturday, with temperatures ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius and some areas exceeding 37 degrees Celsius.

In central Vietnam, the areas from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and the eastern parts of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak may experience even more severe conditions.

Temperatures are expected to reach 36-38 degrees Celsius, with some places above 38 degrees Celsius.

By Saturday night, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely in the northern region, with localized heavy rain.

As a result, widespread heat is expected to end in the region from Sunday.

In the central region, heat is forecast to persist until Sunday, before scattered rain arrives in the evening.

The southern region will continue to experience hot weather on Friday, with highs of 35-36 degrees Celsius, and some areas above 36 degrees Celsius.

From Saturday, scattered showers will reduce the intensity of the heat, leaving only localized hot spots.

The weather agency warned that heatwaves are likely to increase over the next month in the north, in the central areas from Thanh Hoa to Hue, and along the south-central coast.

In the south, hot weather conditions are expected to gradually decline by late May.

Meteorologists added that the number of hot days this year may exceed the long-term average, particularly in the north and central provinces.

Widespread thunderstorms are also expected nationwide, with heavy rainfall likely in the Central Highlands and southern provinces by late May, and in the north from June.
