Residents and tourists in Ho Chi Minh City will have an opportunity to enjoy an artistic and political performance at the Reunification Palace in District 1 on the evening of April 29 to mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and Reunification Day (April 30).

The show, titled Mua Xuan Thong Nhat (Spring of Reunification), will bring together some 1,000 performers, making it the largest cultural event during the holiday, People's Artist Nguyen Xuan Bac, director of the Department of Performing Arts, told a press briefing in Hanoi on Monday.

He emphasized the scale and symbolic importance of the program, which is led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in close coordination with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, and other relevant agencies.

The event, one of three key cultural programs of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in 2025, is directed by Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong and executed by the Vietnam National Opera & Ballet.

The program will feature around 300 professional artists, 300 amateur performers, 50 war veterans, and 50 children, according to Phan Manh Duc, director of the opera and ballet theater.

Among them are artists who previously appeared in notable music shows such as 'Anh trai say hi' and 'Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai.'

The art performance is structured in three chapters, including ‘The Pain of Separation and the Path to Unity,’ ‘Spring of Peace,’ and ‘Spring of a New Era.’

Through a compelling blend of traditional and contemporary art forms, including music, dance, and epic theatrical staging, the performance will portray the immense historical significance and lasting value of the 1975 Spring Victory, a turning point in Vietnam’s national history.

For those unable to attend in person at the Reunification Palace, the show will be broadcast live on VTV1 at 8:10 pm on April 29, ensuring that audiences across Vietnam can partake in this historic cultural celebration.
