Police bust largest indoor cannabis growing operation in Da Nang
Police in Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly cultivating, storing, and selling cannabis after uncovering nearly 100 plants grown indoors using a closed-system setup, authorities said on Wednesday.

Officers from Da Nang's drug crime investigation unit said they detained Do Huu Duy after finding him dividing almost eight kilograms of cannabis during a raid on a house on Truong Chinh Street late on January 19.
A subsequent search revealed 51 cannabis plants grown in a sealed room equipped with artificial lighting and irrigation systems.

Police said Duy admitted renting a second house on Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, where officers found an additional 40 cannabis plants of varying sizes cultivated indoors with lighting and air-conditioning systems operating around the clock, along with equipment used for growing and processing the drug.
According to investigators, Duy began cultivating cannabis in June 2025 after purchasing seeds via the Telegram messaging app, then propagated, harvested, and sold the drug multiple times, with total transactions amounting to about VND112 million (US$4,300).

Da Nang police described the case as the largest cannabis cultivation and trafficking operation ever uncovered in the city.
They said Duy was caught in the act on suspicion of illegal drug trading, with the investigation being expanded to identify other suspects.
