At around 6:00 pm, the rain had just stopped. On the city's busy streets, traffic began building up again after people had pulled over to take shelter from the downpour.
It was an ordinary evening in Ho Chi Minh City: crowded roads, streams of motorbikes and cars, and commuters heading home after a day at work.
But the sky took on a striking appearance after the rain.
A rainbow appeared over the city. Some residents managed to capture it on camera, while others only had time to look up before the bands of color began to fade.

Not long afterward, as the sun dipped toward the west, the sky began to change. The late-afternoon sunlight first turned golden before gradually deepening into orange.
High-rise buildings, rooftops and roads in the distance were bathed in the unusual light of the post-rain evening.
Some motorists slowed down to look at the sky, while others pulled out their phones to capture the sunset, which lasted only briefly.

On balconies facing west, residents also took the opportunity to snap photos. Some frames showed little more than the sky, a few buildings and the last orange rays of daylight, yet they were enough to make an otherwise ordinary evening feel different.
In areas near the river, the water reflected the sunset. Viewed from above, the river appeared to carry a stretch of orange between rows of buildings and roads.
The orange glow also spread across the city's streets. Traffic continued to move, but the familiar urban landscape looked strikingly different under the fading light.

The sunset did not last long. Just 10-15 minutes after the rain ended, the orange glow began to fade.
For those few minutes, however, the city's pace seemed to slow.
People rushing home continued on their way. Traffic remained heavy, and the familiar sounds of a Ho Chi Minh City evening carried on.
Yet amid it all, many residents had taken a moment to look up.
Such unexpected moments can make the city feel more special.
They do not take place outside the rhythm of everyday life, but right in the middle of it — after a rainstorm, along a busy road, behind the city's high-rises or reflected on the river.
