The region’s rainy season is ending early this year under the influence of strong El Nino conditions, raising concerns about a potentially challenging dry season.

El Nino is predicted to remain very strong throughout this month.

Cold air masses from mainland China will continue moving southward and have a limited impact on southern Vietnam.

During the first week of the month, an equatorial low-pressure trough combined with upper-level wind convergence is expected to bring some rainfall, although its influence on the region will be weak.

In the middle and latter parts of November, a subtropical high-pressure system, which typically brings sunny conditions, is forecast to shift southward and dominate the region.

Northeast monsoon winds are expected to be moderate to strong over the southern waters.

Total rainfall in November is forecast to be around or below the long-term average as the rainy season ends early.

The region is expected to record seven to 15 rainy days during the month, with most rainfall occurring in the first 10 days.

Average temperatures are forecast to be 0.5-1.3 degrees Celsius above the long-term average, with maximum temperatures ranging from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius.

Some days could see temperatures climb to 34-36 degrees Celsius.

The regional weather agency added that strong northeasterly monsoon surges accompanied by adverse weather could pose risks to vessels operating at sea.
