The Southern Lottery Council held its 141st meeting on Thursday, reviewing first-quarter operations and outlining growth plans for the second quarter.
The lottery ticket issuance value in the region reached some VND41.4 trillion (US$1.6 billion) in the first three months of the year, rising by over seven percent year on year and meeting over 23 percent of the full-year target.
Total sales climbed by 7.7 percent year on year to VND41.1 trillion ($1.57 billion) during the first quarter.
Average ticket consumption among lottery companies in the region rose by 0.33 percent year on year, reaching 99.37 percent.
The gains in issuance volume, revenue, and ticket consumption helped drive pre-tax profits up nearly 15 percent from the first quarter of 2025.
The sector posted nearly VND5.7 trillion ($215.8 million) in pre-tax profit during the three-month period, completing more than 28 percent of its full-year target.
Budget contributions from southern lottery companies totaled VND21 trillion ($800 million), a year-on-year increase of over 10 percent and equal to over 38 percent of the 2026 target.
Starting April 1, lottery firms in southern Vietnam were permitted to raise their ticket issuance value from VND140 billion ($5.3 million) to VND160 billion ($6.1 million) per issuance.
Under the adjustment, each lottery company can now issue 16 million tickets per issuance, an increase of two million tickets.
For 2026, the council has set a growth target of 10 percent, with total revenue hitting over VND172.9 trillion ($6.6 billion).
