At 11:00 pm, the tropical depression’s center was located over the waters from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, about 130km east-northeast of Da Nang.
The strongest winds near the center reached 50-61 kph, with gusts up to 75-88 kph, moving southwest at 10-15 kph.
Due to its impact, the western part of the northern East Vietnam Sea, including Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) Special Zone, and the coastal waters from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, including the Con Co and Ly Son Special Zones and Cu Lao Cham Island, have been experiencing winds at 39-61 kph, gusting to 75-88 kph, and waves 2-4m high, making sea conditions rough.
Strong winds are also causing water surges of 0.3-0.6m along coastal areas from southern Quang Tri to Da Nang, raising risks of tidal flooding, wave overtopping on coastal roads, and coastal erosion.
All vessels, aquaculture farms, and coastal communities in these danger zones are warned to expect thunderstorms, strong winds, high waves, and sea level rise.
In addition, the tropical depression’s circulation combined with cold air and easterly disturbances, intensified by orographic effects, is forecast to bring widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall across the central region in the coming days.
