Traffic restrictions in Ho Chi Minh City ahead of reunification anniversary

Traffic police in Ho Chi Minh City have issued a notice urging residents to avoid driving into designated central areas on the evenings of April 19 and 26, as the city is preparing for a series of events marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and Reunification Day (April 30).

To ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow, a number of roads in the heart of the city will be closed from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm on April 19 and 26.

These closures support festivities including fireworks, drone performances, and artistic displays.

Traffic restrictions for 3D Mapping shows

Additional restrictions apply for the 3D Mapping light shows taking place on April 19, 26, 29, and 30, also from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Affected roads include Le Thanh Ton Street (from Dong Khoi Street to Pasteur Street) and Nguyen Hue Street (from Le Loi Street to Le Thanh Ton Street).

Alternative routes during these times include:

From Dong Khoi Street to Le Thanh Ton Street: Dong Khoi Street → Lam Son Roundabout → Hai Ba Trung Street → Nguyen Du Street → Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street → Le Thanh Ton Street.

From Hai Ba Trung Street to Le Thanh Ton Street: Hai Ba Trung Street → Le Thanh Ton Street → Dong Khoi Street → Lam Son Roundabout → Hai Ba Trung Street → Nguyen Du Street → Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street → Le Thanh Ton Street.

Business access during restrictions

Vehicles belonging to businesses, restaurants, and hotels near Me Linh Roundabout will only be allowed to exit toward the roundabout, not enter Dong Khoi Street, especially once the area is sealed for event preparation.

Additional restrictions

Traffic police will also ban parking and public gatherings for fireworks viewing on the following bridges, including Thu Thiem, Binh Loi, Binh Trieu, Mong, Calmette, Ong Lanh, Hang Xanh Overpass, Go Dua Overpass, Phu My Bridge, Nguyen Huu Canh Overpass, Thanh Da Bridge, Saigon Bridge, and Rach Chiec Bridge.

Residents are urged to follow instructions, slow down near restricted areas, and comply with officers and traffic signals.

Traffic police will monitor the actual traffic situation and adjust controls as necessary to minimize disruption to daily life.
