Warburg Pincus eyes AI, digital infrastructure

At a meeting with Chip Kaye, chairman of Warburg Pincus, the Vietnamese top leader said Vietnam needs more long-term, high-quality capital as it enters a new stage of development.

He encouraged the U.S. investment firm to expand in sectors where Vietnam has strong demand, including industrial and logistics infrastructure, digital infrastructure, financial services and fintech, technology, high-quality healthcare, and other emerging industries.

He also called on Warburg Pincus to support Vietnamese firms in improving governance, technology, and productivity, while helping them access international capital markets and expand regionally.

The firm was also invited to contribute to the development of Vietnam’s international financial center, modernization of the initial public offering and listing markets, real estate investment trusts, and long-term institutional financing for infrastructure and real estate.

Chip Kaye said Warburg Pincus plans to expand investment in areas with long-term growth potential, particularly artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, data centers, financial services, healthcare, logistics, and infrastructure assets.

He expressed the group’s desire to deepen cooperation and expand investment in Vietnam, promote digital industrial infrastructure and sustainable development, and help strengthen the country’s links with global markets.

Vietnam, he said, wants to move beyond being a major market for Boeing and become a higher-value industrial, technical, and services partner in the aircraft maker’s global ecosystem.

He urged Boeing to develop a concrete program to bring more Vietnamese companies into its supply chain and gradually increase procurement and production in Vietnam.

The U.S. aerospace giant was also encouraged to help local firms meet international standards in quality, safety, traceability, and production management, while supporting the development of maintenance, repair, and overhaul services and long-term aviation workforce training.

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam also called for stronger cooperation in aviation safety, fleet and data management, predictive maintenance, digitalization, air traffic management, fuel efficiency, and emissions reduction.

Nelson described Vietnam as a promising market with many favorable conditions for development.

He said Boeing plans to strengthen its operations in Vietnam and position itself as a bridge for closer diplomatic and economic ties between Vietnam and the United States.

The company also aims to support Vietnam in aircraft research and assessment, maintenance, repair and overhaul, expand pilot and engineer training, assist Vietnamese authorities with air traffic management, and promote aviation cooperation with US partners.

Apple looks to expand Vietnam presence

At his meeting with Apple executive chairman Tim Cook, the Vietnamese Party chief said science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transition, and private-sector development would be key growth drivers for Vietnam in the coming years.

He called on Apple to expand cooperation beyond manufacturing and business operations by helping strengthen Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem, develop local suppliers, train engineers and technology specialists, and increase the country’s participation in global technology supply chains.
