This is the third tranche of U.S. emergency assistance following two previous payments of $500,000 each in October and November.
Other countries, including the United Kingdom and Australia, have also pledged multiple rounds of aid to help Vietnam recover from severe flooding.
Vietnam, along with several South and Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, has faced unusually severe floods in 2025.
The United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund allocated $2.6 million on Thursday to provide housing, clean water, sanitation, and food security in the hardest-hit provinces.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, 2025 has seen extreme and abnormal weather events in Vietnam, causing widespread damage estimated at VND97 trillion ($3.7 billion) as of Thursday.
Twenty-one tropical storms and depressions have formed in the East Vietnam Sea this year, the highest number recorded since 1961.
