Vietnam begins large-scale rehearsal with 15,600 personnel for 80th National Day parade

The exercise, conducted at National Military Training Center No. 4 in Hanoi, was overseen by General Nguyen Tan Cuong, chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of Defense.

The rehearsal included 61 formations, with 18 standing and 43 marching units.

Among them were nine all-female groups representing the armed forces and police, including peacekeepers, military medics, and traffic police.

According to General Cuong, this year’s parade will include military vehicles and specialized police equipment moving through Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi for the first time since 1985.

The parade, scheduled for September 2, will also feature naval vessels—including submarines and coast guard ships—with images to be broadcast live to the capital, he said.

Cuong said that forces had made improvements since earlier training sessions, and that military and police units were continuing preparations under tight schedules and difficult weather conditions.

Authorities have instructed participating units to maintain strict discipline, ensure logistical readiness, and conduct further rehearsals ahead of the official event.

The General Department of Logistics and Engineering is responsible for providing uniforms, food supplies, and technical support for the military vehicles.
