The Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) said on Friday that the Vietnam Motor Show 2026 would not be held this year, as many carmakers shift focus toward individual product launches and brand events instead of large-scale exhibitions.

According to VAMA, the decision was made after discussions among member companies and reflected their communication strategies, product launch plans, and business priorities.

VAMA said the annual exhibition remained one of the key events for Vietnam's auto industry, helping connect automakers with consumers and promoting the domestic market.

The cancelation marks the second consecutive year the event has not been organized.

The 2025 edition was also shelved as Vietnam's auto manufacturing and retail sector faced difficulties, while several members were reportedly unprepared to participate and lacked enough new products for a major exhibition.

Despite the cancelation of the 2026 show, VAMA said member brands would continue organizing their own activities, including vehicle launches, customer experience programs, and promotional campaigns.

The association said such independent events were expected to help maintain momentum in Vietnam's automotive market.

VAMA added that it would continue studying future plans for the motor show and provide updates at an appropriate time.
