Vietnam rail operator offers up to 40 percent off sleeper tickets

Railway Transport JSC is rolling out a series of ticket promotions to encourage rail travel, particularly for round trips, and improve the efficiency of passenger services.

From September 7 to September 10, passengers traveling on selected SE trains through central Vietnam will receive discounts of 15-40 percent, depending on their seat type and journey.

For trains SE2, SE4, SE6, SE8, SE10 and SE20, passengers traveling from Da Nang to Cho Sy or from Hue to Ha Noi will receive 15 percent off air-conditioned soft-seat tickets and 30 percent off all types of sleeper berths.

Sleeper fares start at VND800,000 for Da Nang-Hanoi, VND376,000 ($14.30) for Hue-Vinh and VND375,000 ($14.20) for Vinh-Hanoi.

Air-conditioned soft-seat fares start at VND181,000 ($6.90) for Da Nang-Dong Hoi, VND248,000 ($9.40) for Hue-Vinh and VND225,000 ($8.50) for Vinh-Hanoi.

Meanwhile, passengers traveling between Da Nang and Dieu Tri on trains SE1, SE2, SE3, SE4, SE21 and SE22 will receive 15 percent off air-conditioned soft-seat tickets and up to 40 percent off sleeper berths.

The railway operator is also offering discounts on return tickets for passengers buying round-trip tickets during two periods: September 7-November 19 and November 25-December 30.

Passengers buying tickets individually will receive a 20-percent discount on the return leg if they book one to 19 days before departure. Those who book at least 20 days in advance will receive a 30-percent discount.

For group bookings, the return leg will receive an additional 20 percent or 30 percent discount, depending on how far in advance the tickets are purchased. If passengers qualify for multiple discounts, only the highest discount will apply to the return ticket.

The railway operator encouraged passengers to book early, saying this would give them more options for suitable seats and help them secure higher discounts.

Tickets can be purchased at railway stations and ticket offices or online via the Vietnam National Railway Group website (dsvn.vn), e-wallets and banking apps.
