In April, the country welcomed 2.03 million foreign visitors, marking the fourth straight month with more than two million arrivals, according to the National Statistics Office of Vietnam.

Total international arrivals in the first four months of the year reached 8.8 million, up 15 percent year on year.

This is the first time Vietnam has recorded four consecutive months with over two million international visitors per month, and also the first time arrivals in the January-April period have hit a record 8.8 million.

Although the peak domestic travel season is approaching, international arrivals remained robust, signaling sustained demand for Vietnam as a destination.

Mainland China, South Korea, Russia, Taiwan, Cambodia, the United States, India, Japan, Australia, and the Philippines were the top 10 source markets in the first four months.

The Philippines entered the top 10 for the first time, surpassing Malaysia in visitor numbers.

These markets accounted for about 72 percent of Vietnam's total international arrivals, with China and South Korea alone contributing 39.8 percent.

In addition to traditional markets, several emerging markets posted strong growth.

Russia saw a surge of nearly 300 percent compared to the same period in 2025, driven by the recovery of direct flights, rising demand for long-stay travel, and Vietnam's advantages in safety, infrastructure, natural conditions, and competitive costs.

Europe recorded the fastest regional growth in the four-month period, rising 53.3 percent year on year.

These robust growth trends reflect the effectiveness of visa policies in stimulating travel demand and expanding Vietnam's reach in the European market.

According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the country's international visitor mix is becoming more diversified and sustainable, with new high-potential markets emerging.

The shift is expected to support steady growth and strengthen the sector's resilience to global fluctuations.
