Vietnam’s Khanh Hoa hosts int’l kiteboarding event to boost beach tourism

The My Hoa–Khanh Hoa International Kiteboarding Championship 2026, organized by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, attracted about 200 athletes from 21 countries and territories, competing in multiple events for men and women.

Provincial officials said the tournament is the first in a series of large-scale sports and tourism events planned for Khanh Hoa this year, as the province seeks to develop marine sports as a new tourism product.

Nguyen Long Bien, deputy chairman of the Khanh Hoa provincial People's Committee, said the event helps promote the province's natural conditions and expand its profile among international visitors.

Athletes and organizers said My Hoa's steady winds, moderate waves, and relatively undeveloped coastline have helped position the area as an emerging kiteboarding destination.

The competition is being held alongside cultural and tourism activities, including beach performances, free kiteboarding experiences for visitors, and showcases of local cuisine.
