Vietnam’s Nha Trang beach packed with visitors during National Day holiday

The seaside park along Tran Phu Street was bustling by around 4:00 pm on Sunday, with families and groups of young people spreading mats and setting up umbrellas across the sand.

The beach was nearly packed, with swimmers crowding the shoreline and beachgoers occupying much of the sand up to the rows of coconut trees.

Umbrella and beach-chair rental services were operating at full capacity, with some visitors having to wait for seats.

Doan Anh Hong, 29, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said her family had arrived in Nha Trang the previous evening but had to stay at a hotel deep inside an alley because they had not booked accommodation in advance.

“My daughter loves swimming, so during holidays I often take her to Vung Tau or Nha Trang before the new school year begins,” Hong said.

Restaurants and parking lots along Nha Trang’s beachfront were also overwhelmed by the influx of visitors, while many food and beverage businesses were operating at near full capacity.

Dam Hai Van, director of the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, said rescue teams had been deployed around the clock at beaches in the Hon Chong - Dang Tat and Tran Phu areas during the holiday to ensure the safety of swimmers.

The teams are tasked with monitoring beachgoers, issuing safety reminders, and providing timely assistance when needed.

This year, civil servants and public employees are enjoying a five-day break from August 29 to September 2, while holiday arrangements for other workers vary depending on their employers.

The extended break has fueled a surge in domestic travel, with popular coastal destinations drawing particularly large crowds.
