The visit comes at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This marks President Cuong’s first working trip to China since assuming office in October last year.
The visit takes place as Vietnam and China continue to deepen their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
As the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025, high-level exchanges have been frequent, ranging from phone calls to state visits.
During a press conference on Thursday, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei highlighted the unprecedentedly high frequency of such exchanges in recent history, calling them a strong signal of shared determination to advance along the socialist path and contribute to regional stability.
The ambassador said that Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, will visit Vietnam from August 31 to September 2 to attend Vietnam’s 80th National Day celebrations.
Besides President Cuong’s trip, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in China from August 31 to September 2.
The Chinese ambassador emphasized that bilateral cooperation has entered a new stage of higher quality and deeper integration.
He pointed to opportunities for complementarity in industry, improved trade and investment, and high-tech collaboration, stressing that both sides face ‘a bright future with broad prospects.’
